The Pratham Sea Green Stone Raku Pottery Votive is made using the Raku firing technique, in which pottery is removed from the kiln while still glowing and placed in a container of combustible material. The resulting unpredictable surface effects, the crackled glaze and the colour variations produced by the firing process, are entirely the result of the material’s behaviour rather than the potter’s control. Each Raku piece is unique because the kiln makes it so.
